Sara Goolsby Named Assistant Superintendent of Innovation, Teaching & Learning

Willis ISD is proud to announce that Sara Goolsby has been promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Innovation, Teaching & Learning for Willis ISD. She previously served the district as the Executive Director of Secondary Education. Goolsby replaces Brian Greeney, who departed Willis ISD last week. Goolsby joined Willis ISD as the Willis High School Dean of Curriculum in 2016. Prior to joining Willis ISD, Goolsby was Superintendent of Anderson-Shiro Consolidated ISD for three years. During her 17-year career in education, Goolsby has also held assistant principal and principal positions at the secondary level.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our students, teachers and the community of Willis ISD as we continue to grow and improve as a district,” said Goolsby.

“I am excited for Sara. She is the right person to lead the ITL department moving forward,” said Dr. Harkrider, Superintendent. “She has a great team in place and I look forward to seeing how she moves the needle in student achievement and school growth.”

The district does not plan to fill the role of executive director until late Spring 2023.

Goolsby holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and a Master’s in Education Administration from Sam Houston State University.
