Willis ISD is proud to announce the hiring of Chad Smith as principal of Willis High School for the 2022-23 school year. Smith has 24 years of service in public education, with 19 years in administration as both an assistant principal and principal at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels. Most recently he served as a central office administrator in Tomball ISD. While principal at Tomball Memorial the campus was recognized by US News & World Report as one of the top-performing schools in the Houston area.
During the committee interview process, it was apparent that Smith’s leadership style is focused on developing positive relationships with staff and students, while maintaining a disciplined campus.
“I believe in pushing students academically to be prepared for college or the trade industry,” said Smith. “Education is the key to the success of our society and I am blessed each day to work with students to impact their future. Word on the street is that Willis is the place to be.”
Smith holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and is currently completing his doctoral work through Sam Houston State University. Smith has been married for 17 years to his wife Emily and they have twin boys Parker and Peyton, who are entering seventh grade next year.
