Mrs. Sherray Hawthorne

Sherray Hawthorne is a dedicated and passionate advocate for education. She prides herself on equipping students with the necessary tools, resources, and knowledge to exceed their goals. Sherray is deeply committed to improving children’s lives and continuously strives to lead by example.

Sherray graduated from Coldspring-Oakhurst High School in Coldspring, Texas in May of 2002. After graduating high school, she continued her education at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. She soon graduated from SHSU in December of 2007 earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology. 

As soon as Sherray graduated from college, she began her career in education. She decided to return back to her alma mater, Coldspring-Oakhurst High School. At COHS, she coached all sports and taught Health along with Public Speaking for five years. After her fifth year, she started coaching and teaching at Coldspring-Oakhurst Lincoln Junior High in Coldspring, Texas for three years. Soon after, Sherray decided to put her coaching career on hold and focus on teaching in the classroom. At that point, Sherray started teaching 7th grade Writing. Sherray fell in love with the subject area, and continued striving to increase her knowledge by taking advantage of multiple professional development opportunities.

 As of today, Sherray is starting her thirteenth year of teaching at Lynn Lucas Middle School in Willis, Texas. She will teach 8th ELA . She has received multiple awards for her constant service and dedication to her students, coworkers, and community.
