On March 18, 2020, Congress passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). The provisions of this Act include providing paid leave and expanded family and medical leave for school district employees with specific reasons related to COVID-19. The paid leave provisions of the FFCRA are effective April 1, 2020, and apply to leave taken from April 1, 2020 until the end of the calendar year.
