Tom Crowe is currently serving as Interim Superintendent of Willis ISD. He is no stranger to the district, however. He was the Principal of Willis High School from 1989-91, left for one year, and then returned as Superintendent from 1993-97.
In 1997, Crowe joined Katy ISD where he served as Deputy Superintendent before being named the Superintendent of McKinney ISD in 2004. He retired after 38 years of service to education in 2009.
He didn’t remain retired very long though. He was recruited in 2013 to be Interim Superintendent in Odessa, and stayed there for five years where he retired for the 2nd time in 2018.
When Willis ISD Superintendent Tim Harkrider left for College Station ISD in June, the board contacted Tom and was thrilled when he accepted the invitation. It remains to be seen if he will ever successfully retire from public education as he is now in his 45th year! ( ha ha )
Mr. Crowe holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts in secondary education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He received his Mid-Management and Superintendent's certifications from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
He and his wife Mary Jane reside in Willis and have two sons, Kelly, who serves in the United States Navy, and David, who graduated from the United States Naval Academy.
