Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Advanced Placement Certified in Spanish
Dear parents and guardians,
My name is Mr. Heikell and I am excited about this new school year. I am delighted to have the opportunity to share my knowledge of the Spanish language and cultures with students of Willis High. I have taught Spanish for sixteen years now in Texas accross several different districts. I have taught all five levels of Spanish and I am currently teaching level two for the 2018 - 2019 school year.
I initially learned Spanish by living in Spain over a two year period in the 1990's. Upon my return home, I majored in Spanish and received my Bachelor's degree with a minor in education at California State University, Sacramento. I am certified by the State of Texas as a public educator and I am also certified as an Advanced Placement teacher for Spanish.
I am married with three wonderful children. The oldest just finished her first year of College. They are all a great blessing in my life and have allowed me to grow both mentally and spiritually. With having kids of my own I can understand and empathize with you, the parents of this school. Rearing children is probably the hardest challenge I have ever tackled in my life but it was worth it. I appreciate and applaud all that you do for your own children both at home and here at Willis High. Let me know how I can help you with your child's education this year and I hope to meet you during our open house on September 19th.
