Mrs. Lori Mitchell
Welcome to Willis High School and the World of Mathematics. I am currently teaching DC College Algebra, PAP/DC PreCalculus (DC Trigonometry - Fall Semester), and AP/DC Calculus. This is my 40th year of teaching and I still love being with these students as they grow up to become amazing young adults. I expect much out of my students as they prepare for the next step after high school, whether it is college, military, trade school, or whatever their goals may be. Not only do I expect them to complete their math classes successfully, but I expect them to be able to communicate with each other, be able to spell correctly, and write complete and coherent sentences.
Now a little about myself. I have been married 40 years as of last May to my love of my life. We have a son who entered the Army out of high school. He just completed his Bachelor's degree in July. I had the privilege of teaching him at WHS in CISCO Networking when he was a junior and in precalculus when he become a senior. Alex has been in the Army over 15 years, has a wonderful wife, and 2 great daughers. We will be enjoying a grandson from them in early November.
I like to stay busy. Monday and Wednesday evenings I teach a class at Lone Star College Montgomery during the fall and spring semesters. I am the region treasurer for ATPE, a teacher organization in the state of Texas. When I am not busy with school work, I like to jog and skydive. In the near future, I have some 5K, 10K 15K and obstacle runs planned. Also, I am hoping to continue to break 1 or more world records with a WSOS (Women Skydivers over Sixty) group in the spring.
