• Students,

This is the last week of school! Check your Edmentum courses and all Pre-AP and extra-curricular online platforms to make sure you have completed all assignments. Also, check your school email :)

This last 9-weeks has been a moment to remember for sure. I will remember the hard work and dedication all of you put in even though it was a learning experience for all. Thank you for your patience, your determination, and above all, your STRONG Wildkat spirit.

    Love you all,

    Mrs. Slovak <3

Mrs. Slovak

Welcome parents and students!

In 2009, I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's degree in English and a minor in Secondary Education. I began teaching English at Willis High School in 2013 and have truly enjoyed working alongside the faculty and staff each year. I felt called to teach because I am passionate about inspiring our youth to question society and humanity in an efort to better understand themselves as well as their place in the world.

Professionally, I am passionate about challenging students to think and create meaning in text, media, and conversation. I enjoy opening student's eyes to the messages found in literature and the world around them, both past and present, and inspiring a self-confident desire to respond to each in writing. Personally, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Mr. Slovak, and two children. When not at school, you can find me reading, planning events for family and friends, and completing various DIY projects around the house.

I am also the Academic UIL Ready Writing coach for WHS. If you love writing, or simply want to surround yourself with others who have a desire to compete and strengthen academic passions, Academic UIL is just the place for you! See Ms. Meachen for details. Until then, please check out this UIL Ready Writing link for more information.

I look forward to an exciting 2019-2020 school year!
