Keeping all Willis ISD students and staff safe
Willis ISD has an agreement with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office to provide officers who work diligently to provide a safe working and educational environment for the students and staff of Willis Independent School District. The department, partnering in the community, extends its professional police and resource services to the visitors, residents and other law enforcement agencies that reside within the district boundaries.
The School Resource Officers serve and protect all Willis ISD campuses, centers and administrative offices, spanning a jurisdiction of 158 square miles. In addition to these deputies, the Sheriff's office can provide additional deputies should the need arise. All deputies have gone through the required law enforcement training academy, which includes cultural diversity, racial profiling, sexual crimes & child abuse investigations, mental health and critical incident training.
Deputies are stationed on campuses throughout the district and also patrol school zones to enforce traffic laws. In addition, they conduct classes for elementary and secondary campuses to educate students on special topics, such as the dangers of alcohol and drugs, safety issues on school buses or walking home alone. They work to prevent underage smoking and drinking. Deputies strive to educate and guide students in making healthy, responsible choices.
The School Division of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office operates within carefully prescribed policy, ethical, statutory, and constitutional restrictions. The intent is to limit intrusion into the normal operations of the daily instructional programs and assist Willis ISD by enforcing federal, state, and local laws.
