Retention Incentive
December 2024 Retention Incentive
At the regular board meeting on November 13, 2024, the Board unanimously voted to provide a retention incentive in December! The payment and qualifications are as follows:
- $500 to every employee and SRO hired as of November 1, 2024
- Any employee who has tendered their resignation from Willis ISD on or before Dec. 31, 2024, is not eligible for the one-time retention incentive payment.
The Business Office plans to process the payment the week of 12/16/2024.
August 2024 Retention Incentive
At the February 2024 Board Meeting, the Board unanimously approved a resolution for the payment of a retention bonus in August 2024. The District and Board wishes to provide Willis ISD employees a one-time retention supplemental compensation payment for your continued and unbroken service to the students and school community of Willis ISD. The details of the Resolution are described below.
The August 2024 Retention is to be paid to each eligible employee as outlined below. The payments will be scheduled to go out in August of 2024. Once the funds are ready to be paid to eligible employees, those employees will be required to sign an agreement noting the understanding they will be required to reimburse the district for the payment if they submit a resignation, are terminated, or are released prior to December 31, 2024. Should the employee separate from employment either voluntarily or involuntarily, by resignation or termination prior to December 31, 2024, the employee will no longer be eligible for this one-time retention incentive payment, or the employee will reimburse the District for the full amount of the one-time retention payment (if the resignation took place after receiving the funds). To further clarify, disqualification for the payment will include those that separate(d) / submit(ted) their intent to separate and are later rehired, regardless of the date of rehire.
- $2,500 to each Teacher/Professional/Exempt employee with an official employment / start date with the district as of May 1, 2024
- $1,500 to each Non-Exempt / Hourly / Part-time employee with an official employment / start date with the district as of May 1, 2024
- $500 to each Non-Exempt / Hourly / Part-time employee with an official employment / start date between May 1 and July 1, 2024

Volunteers/Observations
Procedure for Volunteer Approval
Thank you for your interest in Volunteering/Observing in Willis ISD.
- Each person shall be approved by the office of Human Resources prior to volunteering at a school building, event, field trip or any related WISD activity.
- Observation students will follow the same process of approval as volunteers.
- Volunteers must fill out a volunteer application online. When applying, be sure to indicate every campus you are interested in volunteering at.
- In accordance with the Texas Education Code, Section 22.083, Willis ISD may obtain criminal history record information on an individual who has indicated, in writing, an intention to serve as a volunteer. By submitting the volunteer application, you give WISD written consent to run a criminal history check using your name and other identifiers. The information obtained is strictly confidential and will be processed through the Willis ISD Human Resources Office.
- Campus principals and their designated campus volunteer coordinator will be notified of approved volunteers.
- Volunteers must receive approval each school year.
- The last day to submit a volunteer/observation application will be April 30th of the current school year.
- You can check your volunteer status by logging back into the volunteer/observation application. You will not receive any written notification.
Note: Please use the web browser Google Chrome when applying. Due to the high volume of approvals, WISD suggests applications be turned in two weeks prior to the event at which you want to volunteer.
Volunteer Guidelines
- A good volunteer is consistent, dependable, interested in making a difference, respectful and appreciative of teachers and students, and faithful to commitment.
- Volunteers should dress neatly and in accordance to the dress policy for the campus.
- Volunteers should consider things seen and heard at school confidential.
- While volunteering during school hours, it is not permitted to pop in unexpectedly in your child’s classroom.
- Volunteers should sign in with the receptionist to retrieve a paper badge from the campus for the day. Human Resources will not issue volunteer badges.
