Summer Reading Program

Welcome to the Willis ISD Summer Reading Challenge!

This summer, Willis ISD is inviting students, families, staff, and community members to come together through the joy of reading. In partnership with the Montgomery County Library System, this community-wide challenge encourages readers of all ages to explore books, articles, and audiobooks while tracking their progress throughout the summer.

Participants can:
• Log reading milestones and share reading photos for a chance to be featured by Willis ISD
• Participate in the Reader Zone app (R.F. Meador Library Code: c2ec9)
• Earn rewards through local library programs
• Attend summer reading events and storytimes

Whether you read for a few minutes a day or spend hours lost in a great story, every page counts. We invite you to grab a book, find your favorite reading spot, and join us as we “Unearth a Story” together this summer!

How To Get Started

Step 1:

An open purple book with blank pages is illuminated by purple light rays against a white circular background.

Read books, articles, or listen to audiobooks—whatever inspires you!

Step 2:

Purple clipboard with a three-item checklist and checkmarks.

Track your reading progress and log each milestone through the Summer Reading Program Google Form.

Step 3:

Purple camera icon with a highlighted flash detail.

Upload a photo of yourself reading in your favorite spot or with your favorite book. Photos may be featured on the district website, social media pages, or in The Wildkat Word newsletter.

Upper-Level Readers (13+):

A purple-rimmed magnifying glass with a dark purple handle is centered against a plain white background.

After reading, students will select a prompt from the “Depth and Complexity” thinking tools and submit a written response. Visit the Upper-Level Readers page linked below to explore these prompts, which encourage deeper learning, critical thinking, and meaningful connections.
