  • Willis ISD Child Nutrition Department Receives Perfect Score on Texas Department of Agriculture Audit

    The Willis ISD Child Nutrition Department has received a perfect score on an audit of the district’s 2018-19 participation in the National School Lunch Program by the Texas Department of Agriculture. The audits were conducted during the 18-19 school year and included Meador Elementary and the Career & Technology Education Center, as well as records kept at the district level.

  • Jessica Diggs Honored at Board Meeting

    Jessica Diggs, Administrative Assistant for Human Resources, was named co-MVP during the school board meeting Monday, Sept. 9 in a surprise recognition presented by Robert Whitman, Assistant Superintendent of Human & Student Resources.

  • Lynn Lucas Middle School Student Named Secondary Student of the Month

    The secondary student of the month is Cheyenne Swonke, an eighth grade student at Lynn Lucas Middle School. “Cheyenne is a shining example of purity and love,” said theatre arts teacher Amanda Gutierrez. “She has a way of turning your dull, sad or stressful day into something fun and exciting either with a fun story or a goofy joke.”

  • Cannan Elementary Student Named Elementary Student of the Month

    The Willis ISD Board of Trustees honored the September Students of the Month during the regular meeting Monday, Sept. 9. Jake Frazier, a fifth grade student at Cannan Elementary, was named the Elementary Student of the Month. Jake was described by his math teacher Whitney Terry as a bright and enthusiastic student who is always eager to help others. Pat Perez, technology innovation coach, said Jake is a member of the National Elementary Honor Society and is kind, friendly and helpful.

  • 2019-20 Compensation Plan Approved

    The Willis ISD Board of Trustees have approved a comprehensive compensation package for all employees for the 2019-20 school year. Highlights of the plan include a $50,000 starting teacher salary and teacher raises totaling $2,580 (1-5 years' experience) and $2,830 (6+ years' experience).

  • Superintendent Harkrider Named CTE Champion

    Superintendent Tim Harkrider was honored Saturday as the 2019 CTE Champion during the Career and Technology Association of Texas' (CTAT) state conference. Under Mr. Harkrider's leadership, Willis ISD is at the forefront of Career and Technology Education in Texas.

    Willis High School’s Katrina King, health sciences teacher, was named the state's Secondary Educator of the Year, by the Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE). King has been pivotal in establishing a successful health careers path for students at Willis High School.
