English Language Arts and Reading

Actively Learn - an ereading platform that improves students' reading comprehension and retention by empowering teachers to reach students inside a book. Teachers can customize instruction, provide real-time feedback, allow peers to collaborate, and get analytics on student performance.
Quill - currently provides four writing tools that enable students to build writing, grammar, and proofreading skills, and we will continually launch new tools that advance student writing and thinking. Through our tools, students gain the ability to express, with clarity and precision, complicated thoughts in writing. Although some of the steps might seem simple, each activity helps teachers progressively build the skills students need to read deeply and think critically about the world around them.
Commonlit - delivers high-quality, free instructional materials to support literacy development for students in grades 5-12. Our resources are:
  • Flexible;

  • Research-Based;

  • Aligned to the Common Core State Standards;

  • Created by teachers, for teachers.

We believe in the transformative power of a great text, and a great question.

Newsela - Each Newsela text is offered at multiple tiers, for every student, no matter their level. That’s huge. Now students can study the same content and learn at their own pace—while teachers save time and headaches. It’s the definition of working smarter.
No Red Ink - A fun, personalized, and adaptive tool to help students improve their grammar and writing skills.  Students can select their interests so that all their work is personalized and relevant!  Students connect with teachers to instantly receive work, and teachers can easily track each student’s progress. Whenever students make a mistake, NoRedInk instantly remediates and directs them to more practice on the same skill.
Epic - Available for FREE to elementary school teachers and librarians.  Our mission, like yours is to foster a life-long love of reading.
