Willis High School Band Concludes Successful Competition Season

The band also did well in several other marching competitions, including: class champions at the Sam Houston State University Marching Festival; second in class at the Blinn Marching Invitational; second in class at the Lone Star Preview Marching Band Competition and fourth in class at the Waller Marching Festival.

French horn player Ashley Vargo also received accolades recently, earning third chair at the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region IX Orchestra wind auditions. She will participate in the region concert Nov. 18-19. Vargo also is eligible to compete in the 6A area round competition in January 2017.

As the band looks toward their trip to the Music for All Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana, March 8-13, 2017, the band will further hone their skillset by offering several holiday performances. A schedule is included on the next page.

Band Performances

City of Willis Christmas Parade – Saturday, Dec. 3

The parade will be held on the traditional homecoming route beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting approximately one hour. The Willis High School Jazz Band will perform beginning 30 minutes after conclusion of the parade at the Lynn Lucas Middle School Auditorium located at 1304 N. Campbell. The city festival will be held the same day from noon to 4 p.m. in the parking lot across from Woodforest Bank off highway 75.
