Construction Managers at Risk Chosen for Bond Projects

Pepper Lawson Construction will handle package one which includes the expansion of parent drop-off lanes at Cannan, Meador, Turner and Brabham; expansion of Brabham Middle School to include a track and four tennis courts; and installation of field turf at Yates Stadium.

Durotech will oversee package two comprised of the new career and technology center, agricultural science center, auditorium and athletic additions at Willis High School.

Collier Construction was awarded package three which will build the new elementary school off League Line Road.

“We are excited about moving forward with these three construction managers who will oversee projects approved during the 2015 School Bond Election,” stated Superintendent Tim Harkrider. “We will begin work on projects in package one this spring with the hope of completing everything except the classroom expansion at Brabham before the start of school in August 2016.”

In other business, trustees approved three new bus driver positions and two new monitors for the transportation department.  These positions were necessary to accommodate increased ridership as a result of a growing student population.

The next regular meeting of the WISD Board of Trustees is Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. in the Cargill Education Support Center, 204 W. Rogers in Willis.
