Willis ISD Receives Clean Audit Report; Board Approves Bond Election Results

During the Wednesday evening meeting, the district’s 2015 elementary and secondary teachers of the year, Lauren Zapata and B. J. York were presented with rings in recognition of their achievement.

Trustees also cast their ballots in both Montgomery and San Jacinto County Appraisal District Board of Directors Elections.

In a separate, special meeting of the board on Thursday, Nov 12, 2015, trustees canvassed the results of the 2015 School Bond Election.  The order canvassing the returns reflected 2328 Votes FOR the Proposition and 1524 Votes AGAINST the Proposition.  Trustees adopted the order and declared the approval of the $109,500,000 school building bonds at the election held on November 3, 2015.

“Our community came together to support the largest bond proposition in WISD history,” stated Superintendent Tim Harkrider. “And they supported it by the largest percentage of “yes” votes in WISD history.”

“We pledge to be good stewards of the community faith and funds that have been entrusted to our care,” Harkrider continued. “Our continued receipt of clean audits is a testament to the ability of our business office and everyone throughout Willis ISD to follow appropriate financial practices.”
