About the Long-Range Planning Process

Willis ISD’s Long-Range Planning Process is a comprehensive, community-driven effort designed to guide facility, budget, and program decisions that support the District’s long-term vision. The process brings together staff, families, community members, and industry experts to review data, study District needs, and collaboratively recommend projects that ensure students have safe, modern, and effective learning environments.

In December, the District opened the Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) application window. The application will remain open until noon on Friday, January 9. Committee members will be notified in January and announced publicly during a Board of Trustees meeting, along with the full schedule of work sessions.

From January through April, the LRPC will meet regularly to study key areas that impact long-term planning. Each meeting focuses on a specific set of topics, including but not limited to:

  • District Overview & School Finance
  • Facilities Assessment Findings
  • Enrollment Growth & Demographic Projections
  • Marketplace Trends & Construction Costs
  • Capacity, Land, New Construction & Major Renovations
  • Athletics, Fine Arts, CTE, and Infrastructure Needs
  • Technology, Transportation, and Safety & Security

In April, the LRPC will finalize its long-range project timeline and recommendations. The LRPC members will then elect a spokesperson to present the Committee’s findings to the Board of Trustees in May.
