State Accountability Ratings

State accountability ratings are based on a framework of three domains that are used to evaluate the performance of each public campus and district in the state. The framework includes a range of indicators to calculate a score for each domain and enables a thorough assessment of campus and district effectiveness. A-F letter grades are used to rate the overall performance of districts and campuses.

Accountability ratings are based on achieving a target established for each performance domain.

  • Domain 1: Student Achievement: provides a snapshot of performance across subjects.
  • Domain 2: School Progress: measures year-to-year student progress by subject and student group.
  • Domain 3: Closing Performance Gaps: tracks advanced academic achievement of economically disadvantaged students and the lowest performing racial/ethnic student groups.

Accountability ratings are available at TEA's Interactive Accountability Site

A Temporary Restraining Order was granted on August 12, 2024 ordering that the Commissioner of Education and his officers, agents, servants, employees, and attorneys are restrained from assigning and/or issuing and/or distributing A-F performance ratings for the 2023-24 school year until a hearing can be held on August 26, 2024 at 9:00 am. All 2024 A-F ratings and Comprehensive, Targeted, and Additional Targeted Support school improvement designations are pending and subject to change based on judicial rulings.

UPDATE 8/27/24: The hearing on the TRO barring TEA from issuing 2024 A-F Accountability Ratings has been postponed until September 16, 2024.
