About Willis ISD
Small-Town values and big hearts are the center of education in Willis ISD.
Willis ISD is a growing K-12 public school district nestled between the Sam Houston National Forest and Lake Conroe, 45 miles north of Houston, Texas. Education is exciting for the more than 8,577 Willis Wildkats who attend pre-kindergarten, one of six elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
The mission of the Willis Independent School District is to function as One Team, One Purpose, as we develop in each student the knowledge, skills and behaviors essential for life-long learning and for productive, responsible citizenship.
Our District
Opportunities for All Students
Our goal as educators is to ensure that every student graduates with choice. The choice to go to college, start a career with a newly earned industry-based certification, or join the military. We want all students to feel prepared for whichever path they select.
College ready juniors and seniors can take Lone Star College courses in their high school classrooms, with some students graduating with more than 40 hours college credit through Dual Credit courses.
The state-of-the-art Career and Technology Education center allows students to acquire skills in a variety of areas including architecture and construction, agriculture, audio/video technology, business management, health science, hospitality services and information technology. There are more than 20 industry-based certifications in selected fields available to help students get a quick start on their careers.
The district thoughtfully incorporates technology into the classroom to ensure that our students are using a combination of hands-on, active learning, balanced with an appropriate mix of technology, to prepare them for the challenges of tomorrow.
Individual talents and valuable life skills are enriched through our athletic, fine arts and extracurricular programs. We want every student to find something they can find belonging, establish relationships, learn teamwork, and build character, all while contributing to the success of a greater good.
Mission-Driven Staff
Our team of professional educators is dedicated to developing a life-long passion for learning in all students. We believe every child counts and every child learns and offer hope for a successful future by teaching every child to think.
What We Value
Our district honors small-town values and traditions. We’re a community that pulls together for our students and develops personal connections with them and their families.
