Course Description: During this course students will focus on basic computer skills and responsible computer use. Students will develop an understanding of Internet safety, ethical computer use, copyright laws, and searching the Internet. This course will cover basic and intermediate skills and shortcuts using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,) and Google Drive products (Google Docs, Sheets, Presentation). Students will also build communication skills through the use of email and collaborative tools.
Daily Supplies Needed: Pen or Pencil
Classroom Supplies Needed: Hand Sanitizer, Clorox Wipes, Lysol, Tissues

- Electronic/personal devices should be in student’s backpacks, and silenced.
Google Classroom: Most assignments and announcements are distributed and collected using Google Classroom. When a student is absent, it is important to check Google Classroom to ensure that all assignments are completed.
Time in Class: Students finish projects and activities at different times. Students are expected to work on their assigned activities during the class period. There may be times when a student has spare time. This time can be used in several ways. Students may use the time to explore, more advanced features on one other programs or applications we have available to us on or computers or they may work on computer-based assignment from other classes. Students may not visit chat rooms, social media websites, or visit websites that have not been approved by me. Students doing these things may lose the use of the computer for the class period. If this becomes a recurring issue, further consequences may be assigned.
Homework: Students who utilize the time given will be able to complete all work in class. Homework is not assigned. If a student needs extra time to complete an assignment, it may be completed at home, before school, or after school.
Daily Grades = 40% Major Grades = 60%
Retest: Students have one opportunity to retake a test with a failing grade for a higher score. Students must attend one tutoring session before the re-test.
Tutorials: Additional assistance or time to work may be arranged after school from 2:50 pm - 3:15 pm.
