• Director: Jamie Fails
    Media Specialist: Melissa Musella

The Willis ISD Communications team supports district and campus goals to promote a positive, informative and educational climate by facilitating communications between and among students, staff, parents, and the community. The department works to communicate the outstanding achievements of our students, increase parental and community engagement, and foster public trust and understanding. Primary responsibilities include:

Media Relations - issue press releases and coordinate responses to media requests.  All media inquiries should be directed to this office at 936-856-1217 or jfails@willisisd.org. If it is an emergency, you can reach Jamie on her cell phone at 830-459-6018.

Social Media - Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Flyer distribution - We use Peachjar, a digital flyer system. For more information, visit the link at left

District and Campus Websites - develop and manage content; provide training to campus and departmental webmasters

Publications - Email newsletters; brochures; flyers; special district publications

Video Production - film, edit, and create content to highlight various programs, campus and district messages, and staff and student achievements

Community Meetings - publicize, promote, organize, and facilitate the presentation of district updates and information to a diverse array of school and community stakeholders

Crisis Communication - use multiple media to keep the community informed in the event of a weather or other emergency including the district website, Facebook, Twitter, and automated phone calls

Emergency Weather Information - In the event of a weather related event, Willis ISD will monitor weather conditions and forecasts to make decisions appropriate for the safety of ALL students and staff. If the decision is made to cancel school, the district communications department will send out a phone call to all primary phone numbers listed in a student's permanent file on campus. Therefore, it is imperative that parents/guardians keep student information including phone numbers and emails up to date with the campus front office. The district will make decisions regarding school cancellations by 5:30 a.m. The fastest way to receive announcements regarding weather is to check the district's Facebook page and stay tuned to local news stations including KHOU 11, KPRC 2 and KTRK 13.
