• Dear Parents,

    Next week we move into poetry and figurative language.  This year they need to do more than just identify it.  Figurative and sensory language in their writing.  They will also need to know why the author added it to stories/poems and what the meaning behind it is.  The four that we will concentrate on this year are similes, metaphors, personification, and hyperboles.  
     
    Monday:  Toolkit lesson over connecting to the known
     
    Tuesday/Wednesday:  analyzing song lyrics to find the meaning and theme
     
    Thursday:  Using the same song lyrics to understand the use of figurative language
     
    Friday:  Using a story to address the figurative language used.
