Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year where we are "Wild About PreK!"
Although many of you know me very well, I want to take a minute to introduce myself to the Roark Early Education Center families and community members. I have been an employee of Willis ISD for 13 years. I was a third grade teacher 1 year, an assistant principal 7 years and a principal 5 years all at Parmley Elementary School. Before working in Willis ISD, I was a first grade teacher for 14 years. I have a wonderful husband of 27 years and two sons, one a senior at University of Houston and the other a senior at Willis High School. My educational background, training and teaching is highly focused on the early elementary years.
I am so excited to start this Early Childhood and Prekindergarten expedition with you all as coordinator. As coordinator, it is my mission to motivate, encourage and empower our school staff into continual excellence dedicated to the success of EVERY student and serving others. I believe these early years are very important and every child needs a strong academic foundation in language and literacy in order to be ready for kindergarten. I promise to implement campus practices that support Roark Early Education Center's strong committment to be student focused and relationship driven. It is my desire to lead in a spirit of clarity, collaboration and transparency. Please know that we have an open door policy to effectively communicate and uphold the Willis ISD core belief to communicate, encourage, be responsive to and seek input and participation from students, families, staff and community. As we begin our journey in the days ahead, please know that I welcome your input and feedback. I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions, concerns and ideas you may have. TOGETHER we can and will succeed because our committment is to work together and ensure Roark Early Education Center students are prepared for the future.
Looking forward to a GREAT year!
Calandra Lewis, Coordinator
