Willis ISD has partnered with Cenergistic, Inc. "The Energy Conservation Company"
to help us in our efforts to conserve energy and save dollars that can be redirected to support education. We are working to save energy by modifying our behavior and becoming more energy aware in all areas of consumption.
The total above is from August 2011 through September 2016 and consists of Cost Avoidance plus Special Savings that are the result of the Energy Management Program.
What are we doing to save energy?
Turn off lights when not needed,
Turn off electrical equipment such as computers, monitors, printers, document cameras, projectors, TVs, etc. at the end of each day,
Turn off parking lot lights in the middle of the night,
Turn off refrigeration equipment in concession stands during the off-season and between events,
Making sure all of our vent fans are off at the end of the school day,
Keeping our doors closed at all times,
Tighten up our run times on our air/heat to closely match student class times,
Not running air/heat during breaks such as Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break, and summer break except to maintain humidity control and district standard minimum/maximum temperatures,
Other items as identified or needed. (Our program concentrates on how we use energy without capital expenditures. Some items we change require minor amounts of labor and/or costs involving the installation of newer thermostats or timers to gain schedule control over previously uncontrolled air/heat/lights.)
