How to apply for the Free/Reduced Lunch Program. NOTE: All parents/guardians must fill out a new application each year at the start of the school year. Getting free or reduced meals is a priveledge that requires you to take action, it is not your right. There are strict federal guidelines that the school district must adhere to.
The best time to do this is during the
registration times for your child's school.
- Pick up an application from your child's school or the Child Nutrition department located at Brabham Middle School. An on-line version is not available.
- Be sure the current school year is printed at the top. (Applications on the incorrect form will be returned)
- Follow the instructions on the back of the application, being careful to fill in all the asked for information.
- Return the application to your child's school or deliver to the Child Nutrition department located at Brabham Middle School.
After your application is processed (allow up to 10 days after you turn it in), you will be mailed a letter telling you if your child(ren) have been approved for free or reduced meals. Please turn in your application promptly to avoid being liable for charges by your student.
Applications from the previous year expire 30 days after the start of the school year per federal law and children previously free or reduced will have to pay for all lunch room purchases until a new application is submitted and approved. Parents will be liable for all charges regardless of the new status from the time of expiration to approval of an up-to-date application.
